Aims

In order to protect the integrity of our support group, we have established a set of aims for our organization, and some basic rules.

The aims of our group are as follows:

To provide non-judgmental support and information (especially through our personal stories) to newly diagnosed pregnant women, carrying babies with teratomas and their families. To provide non-judgmental support to parents, families etc that have lost their babies through teratomas. To provide non-judgmental support and information to survivors of teratomas, as well as to friends, families etc. To promote awareness of scts through the medical community to ensure "best practice" when treating and diagnosing scts. To inspire research to ultimately find out what causes scts (as well other fetal teratomas). That parents and affected individuals should be advised of the existence of the support group and medical practitioners should recommend and explain the benefits of contact with the group. That disclosure of diagnosis should be accompanied by a complete explanation of a full range of treatment options available, either for treatment or the likely outcome of non-intervention.

TSF Rules

We are here with our hearts and arms open to help provide a safe place for support. And as such we have some rules for posting that we ask everyone to respect. We reserve the right to unsubscribe members and reject or delete posts that do not comply with these rules. The decision of the owner and moderators is final.

Incivility will not be tolerated. No "bashing" or "flaming" will be allowed under any circumstances. Violation of this policy will result in immediate suspension of privileges to unmoderated posting. Please stay on topic. You may occasionally be allowed to post good news concerning wedding announcements, birthdays, graduations, etc. We are not medical professionals. Any information provided by our membership is informational and anecdotal only. Consult with your medical advisors on any medical decisions. We are happy to refer you to other groups and organizations to meet your psychiatric/counseling needs. Should you require information concerning grief counseling or interpersonal issues, we encourage your participation in other venues to explore your options. We offer support to individuals who are experiencing other forms of teratomas, including but not limited to SCTs, Testicular, Brain and Trunk in antenatal and postnatal circumstances. The support group has no religious affiliations. We ask that no direct discussion of religion appear in any posts. We welcome everyone of every religious background and do not want to alienate anyone whose religious beliefs differ. A simple offering of prayer support will not be deemed a violation of the terms. These support group rules are provided as a general guideline and may be altered without prior notice, according to need.
